Detroit Lakes, MINN.--After successfully completing a debut show last season the new community theatre group, Summit Productions, is proud to bring the deliriously funny heartwarming comedy, “Over the River and Through the Woods” to Detroit Lakes. Dave Goebel, of Frazee, will be directing the play for Summit Productions. The cast is made up of actors from Detroit Lakes and the surrounding area. The cast members include, Greg Johnson as Nick Cristano, Jim Sinclair as Frank Gianelli, Jeannine Eiseland as Aida Gianelli, Doug Schultz as Nunzio Cristano, Sharon Sinclair as Emma Cristano, and Shawn Alvarez as Caitlin O'Hare.

The 1998 New York production of this play won acclaim from critics and audiences alike. “Over the River & Through the Woods” takes us to a family Sunday dinner with Nick Cristano, a young man trying to break with his New Jersey roots to take his dream job in another city. His Italian grandparents, looking for a reason to keep Nick close to home, invite a lovely young single woman to dinner as bait. Along the way Nick learns a thing or two about his grandparents, himself and what family is all about.
The performances will take place Saturday, March 6 & 13, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 7 &14 at 2 p.m. Join in the fun opening night, Saturday, March 6 for a social at 5:30 p.m., followed by a spaghetti dinner served just like at the Cristano house at 6 p.m. The cost is $15 per person. (Please purchase dinner tickets by March 3.) “Over the River & Through the Woods” is part of the Historic Holmes Theatre BTD Community Connections Series. Individual tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students.
